Keeping Watch as Budget Negotiations Approach
We continue to maintain a vigilant watch on amendments and multiple pieces of legislation
moving through the process. Several key issues advanced this week, and we remain hopeful that
the House and Senate will soon reach agreement on allocations and spending plans. Once
allocations are finalized, we’ll have clarity on who, what, when, and where negotiations can begin
on important budget-related items—such as COLA.
The ongoing economic fluctuations and the introduction of various tax break packages will
significantly impact the overall budget and determine what funds are available for raises, projects,
and COLA adjustments.
We are also closely monitoring any insurance-related proposals that could affect Chapter 185
pension plans, and we remain hopeful for funding allocations to support pay raises for State
Employees, including those at FDLE and other critical agencies.
