Session Week 1
2025
The 2025 Session has begun
with the usual pomp and ceremony, but
there is a palpable undertone of tension
between the legislative and the executive
branch. The numerous (3) special sessions
have interfered with the timelines of the
2025 Session, causing delays in bill filing,
committee assignments, and committee
hearings.
Chairman Michael Kelly, Jeff Stinson,
Jim Sniffen, Vanessa Fernandez, Felix
Del Rosario, and Yaosca Vanegas
walked the halls to gain support for
our bills, met with bill sponsors and
committee chairs, and attended
committee hearings. Steve Zona held
discussions with House Leadership
regarding the FOP priority issues and
worked out language to amend
legislation.
Thank you to FOP Lodge 530, FOP Lodge 20,
and FOP Lodge 93 for helping to raise
money
for
incoming
Speaker,
Representative Jennifer Canady.
Special recognition to FOP Lodge 93, FOP
Lodge 20, FOP Lodge 49 and FOP Lodge 2, for
assisting in the legislative agenda by
sending members to Tallahassee and for
having crucial phone calls with legislative
leaders. President Shawn Dunlap joined FOP
Team members for the debriefing and
assignment meeting before continuing with
his duties to the Southern States FOP
Conference.
